ZITAZ @ GAJOH
Zi Taz, formerly known as Azimin Tazilan, is a Malaysian contemporary conceptual artist, designer, and micro-architecture innovator whose practice bridges art, street culture, and urban transformation. His work is grounded in lived street realities—informal spaces, nomadic objects, and adaptive structures—translated into a distinctive visual and spatial language.

Zi Taz holds a PhD in Micro-Architecture and Sustainable Street Urbanization from the National University of Malaysia and a Master of Arts in Interior Architecture from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK). This multidisciplinary background informs a practice that moves fluidly between art, architecture, design, and technology, integrating drawing, industrial mapping, installation, and mixed media.
He gained national recognition as a finalist of Bakat Muda Sezaman (Young Contemporaries) at the National Visual Art Gallery, Malaysia—an early milestone that catalyzed deeper experimentation across media and scale. Since then, his works have been exhibited widely in Malaysia and internationally, including Singapore, London, Shanghai, and the United States, within contexts connected to Miami Art Week and Art Basel.
Zi Taz’s solo exhibitions—adaJALAN, bagiJALAN, makanJALAN, and bukaJALAN—form an evolving inquiry into street heritage, micro–ultra architecture, and urban survival systems that have shaped Malaysia for more than a century. His recurring iconography—bulldozers, street markings, blurred boundaries, and typological-scapes—functions as a critical metaphor for progress, displacement, and the negotiation between order and improvisation.

Beyond studio practice, Zi Taz is an Associate Professor, an Academy of Sciences Malaysia–appointed expert in applied arts and creative industries, and Director/CTDO of GreenXS, a spin-off company focusing on green micro-architecture, solar technology, and eco-street business development. His works are held by architects, universities, public agencies, and private collectors locally and internationally.
At ARTEFEX, Zi Taz positions art as a living design system—where creativity connects space, community, tourism, and cultural memory to build future-ready creative ecosystems.
